We want you to have the support you deserve.

Welcome! I am Marla. I am a Hospice volunteer and trained End of Life Doula. I bring hands-on experience being a companion, carer, advocate, trainer, and finance professional. I am passionate about demystifying and normalizing the topics of death and dying and guiding us all to accept the reality of our finite existence so we can live the life we have more fully and abundantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

End-of-life doulas provide companionship, comfort, and guidance to those facing a terminal illness or death. Our non-medical holistic support encompasses emotional, spiritual, and practical care. We offer resources to help the dying person, along with their family and loved ones, to make informed decisions in a supportive environment. (INELDA definition)

What is a death doula?

Now. There is never a moment too early to start considering personal preferences and preparing. When a teen becomes a new driver (discuss organ donation) or when a child in the home turns 18 and becomes a legal adult (get Medical/General POAs executed). Any life-long partnership should include discussing end of life wishes, and of course when diagnosed with any long-term illness, especially if terminal.

When should one start thinking about/planning for death?

No. Hospice is a type of palliative care that provides comfort for the patient and support for the family. It is a Medicare benefit and is statistically shown to prolong life by 29 days compared to those who don’t exercise this benefit. (NHPCO report, 2007)

Isn’t hospice a “death sentence”?

What is one thing you wish everyone knew?

Talking about death will not hasten it!
